Our Supplier Code of Conduct

Our Supplier Code of Conduct is based on the Core Conventions and the Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work of the ILO, part of the UN. The scope of the Code of Conduct covers our supply chains including goods for sale, services and goods not for sale (such as service providers, logistics and transportation). It forms part of Primark’s Business Terms and Conditions. Suppliers must share and ensure that the requirements of the Code is implemented in each factory and at every supplier they work with, to ensure that our standards are met by everyone we work with directly, or indirectly.

The Code of Conduct is available on the Primark website in 44 languages, to reflect the languages spoken in the factories producing for Primark. It’s updated regularly following internal review and input from external stakeholders.

Our Code was updated in 2020. This update includes stronger sections on forced labour, living wages, freedom of association, child labour and health and safety. We also included a new clause requiring our suppliers to implement their own workplace grievance procedures.

Our Factory Audit Programme

At Primark, we’re very selective about who we will and won’t work with. We will only work with suppliers’ factories if they agree to and meet the internationally-recognised standards set out in our Code of Conduct – requirements range from respecting workers’ right to form a trade union to ensuring people don’t work excessive hours.
