Our team shares insights into the steps we’re taking to reduce our impact on the planet, from designing for durability and circularity to cutting carbon and supporting communities. It’s all part of our commitment to becoming a more sustainable and circular business. Explore more in our Sustainability and Ethics Progress Report.
Small steps, big impact
Diego, a Retail team member at our Mary Street store in Dublin, shares highlights from our latest Sustainability and Ethics Progress Report. From making clothes more durable and recyclable and cutting waste with recycled hangers and packaging, to supporting farmers through the Primark Cotton Project, we’re taking action in stores and beyond.
Traceability
Traceability Lead Cari Atkinson explains how we’re tracking the journey of our materials, like cotton from the Primark Cotton Project and recycled fibers, using digital tools like TrusTrace. By mapping our supply chain, we’re building trust and transparency every step of the way.
Unpacking single-use plastic
Jessica Lowther, Primark’s Packaging Lead, shares how we’re tackling single-use plastics. Focusing on our goal to remove them entirely by 2027, this year we introduced new ways to track and measure packaging throughout the business. From hangers made of 90% recycled materials to 100% FSC Certified cardboard versions, we’re rethinking packaging to make it lighter on the planet.
Shrinking our carbon footprint
Giulia Diano from our Carbon & Climate Change team shares how we’re tackling emissions throughout our value chain—from manufacturing to shipping and product disposal. By switching to biofuel, prioritizing sea freight and collaborating with suppliers to set reduction targets, we’re making lower-carbon choices possible. With a 1.9% reduction in emissions since the baseline year, we’re on track to halve our carbon footprint by 2030.
Designing for circularity
Claire Scanlon, Primark’s Circular and Sustainable Design Solutions Manager, shares how we’re rethinking fashion with circularity in mind. From durable, recyclable 100% cotton denim to in-store repair workshops, we’re focusing on clothes that last. Guided by our Circular Product Standard, we’re training teams and educating customers to close the loop.
