Penneys will officially open the doors of its much-anticipated newly relocated store in Dundrum Town Centre on Thursday 22nd June at 10am. The retailer has invested €14.8 million in this new and much improved store, reinforcing its continued commitment to the Irish market. Penneys is expanding and relocating to the second and third floor of the former House of Fraser site, which will feature 60,000 sq. ft of prime retail space and represents a 64% increase in size from the current Dundrum Penneys store.

Once open, Penneys will become one of Dundrum Town Centre’s largest fashion stores and the third largest Penneys store in Ireland, following its flagship store in Mary Street and its store in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre, Dublin. Customers to the new Penneys Dundrum store can look forward to discovering the latest summer fashion trends and great value everyday essentials across womenswear, menswear, kidswear, beauty, and homeware, including the retailers ever-growing Primark Cares label, in a fantastic store setting. Already, 50% of Penneys’ clothes are made using recycled or more sustainably sourced materials, up from 25% a year ago, as part of the retailer's ambition to make more sustainable fashion affordable for everyone.

To support the bigger store, Penneys is also calling on people to join its fantastic team and is recruiting for a number of retail roles at the new store. Recruitment is now live and interested candidates can apply for a position through the Primark careers website. Working in Penneys is an opportunity to build a lifelong career in retail; the retailer offers extensive in-house training programmes for all employees, as well as learning and development opportunities across all levels and the chance to work abroad in one of its 15 markets.

Damien O’Neill, Head of Penneys Ireland and Northern Ireland, said: “We can’t wait to welcome our valued customers and colleagues into our fantastic new store in Dundrum, it’s an important location for Penneys and very popular with our customers. The store is nearly ready and looking incredible; we are confident our customers are going to love our new space and as it’s twice the size of our current store, we are excited to offer a much wider selection of products across fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and homeware, including some great new services. We are committed to providing the best in-store experience to our customers in Ireland and are proud to continue investing in Irish retail.”

Don Nugent, Centre Director at Dundrum Town Centre said: “We are delighted that Penneys has committed to a continued presence in Dundrum Town Centre, and at such prime locations on levels two and three of the mall. We know our customers to the Centre will be excited to shop the Penneys products they know and love in the new store and we look forward to the excitement of opening day on Thursday 22nd June”.

Penneys, which operates as Primark outside of Ireland, currently has 37 stores in Ireland and over 400 in total across Europe and US. The new store in Dundrum is part of the retailer’s commitment to invest over €250 million in Ireland over the next 10 years, which includes the development, relocation and/or refurbishment of its stores across the country. The investment also includes a €75 million state-of-the-art warehousing and distribution facility in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, which is currently under construction.
