Primark’s first collection informed by and designed for people who have experienced breast cancer was launched in October 2021, during Breast Cancer Awareness month. We worked closely with the Irish Cancer Society, oncology nurses and those who have experienced cancer to test the products. The 22-piece collection focused on both style and comfort to make getting dressed easier post-surgery. The products also featured recycled or sustainable cotton and/or recycled polyester.
The collection was modeled by women who have experienced breast cancer, with the goal of raising awareness of the importance of detection and self-examination. The campaign was supported by illustrations created with the Irish Cancer Society, with information on breast awareness displayed in stores, and on Primark’s website and social media channels. Primark also donated nearly €290,000 (£250,000) to local charities, supporting breast cancer research throughout its 14 markets.
This October 2022, we launched a new collection of post-surgery and solidarity loungewear, along with a two-piece sleepwear collection in the UK and Republic of Ireland. Primark will give 50% of the sales price from this collection, created in memory of Sarah Harding, to charity, funding an important research project into breast cancer in younger women. We will also give £750,000 to support the work of selected cancer charities throughout Europe, the UK and US.
