A Primark spokesperson said: “We welcome the expansion of the International Accord into Pakistan to help promote decent and safe workplaces for workers. This move complements our own Structural Integrity Programme, which we have had in place in Pakistan since 2015, alongside our experienced team working on the ground who oversee the local implementation of our Ethical Trade and Environmental Sustainability programme.”
Primark was one of the first signatories to the Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh 2013 – now known as the International Accord.
We currently have 22 approved supplier factories in Pakistan.
Our own Structural Integrity Programme is operational in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Cambodia and Myanmar, whereby Primark-approved factories are subject to comprehensive structural integrity surveys.
Our Ethical Trade audits, which take place at least once a year, give us a detailed picture of working conditions across factories, including fire and electrical assessments.
