We continue to push for fair and safe working conditions in our supply chain.
Our Primark Cares commitments aim to make a positive difference for the hundreds of thousands of workers in our supply chain. Like other retailers and brands, we don’t own any of the factories that make our products, so that is why we work closely with suppliers, factories and farmers. We run social impact programmes in many of our sourcing markets and continue to evolve our practices to promote a resilient supply chain with safe and decent workplaces.
Every supplier who works with us must follow the standards set out in our Supplier Code of Conduct. These are internationally recognised standards.
Local Primark team members visit our suppliers to inspect their factories at least once a year to make sure that our standards are being met. This adds up to around 2,500 inspections every year with a focus on checking that workers’ hours, wages and rights are protected. Some of these audits are carried out by third parties in areas where we may not have a presence or need additional support.
For many years, we’ve run training programmes to support workers in our supply chain. They are aimed at giving people the opportunity to develop their workplace skills and drive improvements in health and wellbeing.
It will take time to see the impact of our programmes. But our commitments give us clear ambitions to keep taking our efforts further.
