Primark launches new specialist breast cancer collection in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month

PEOPLE

Supporting and empowering women, whatever life brings: affordable products for those who have experienced breast cancer and undergone breast surgery.

Primark’s first collection informed by and designed for people who have experienced breast cancer was launched in October 2021 during Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Primark’s first collection informed by and designed for people who have experienced breast cancer was launched in October 2021 during Breast Cancer Awareness month. We worked closely with the Irish Cancer Society, those who have experienced cancer and oncology nurses to trial and test the products. The 22-piece collection focused on both style and comfort to allow for ease of dressing post-surgery. The products also featured recycled or sustainable cotton and/or recycled polyester.

The collection was modelled by women who have experienced breast cancer with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of detection and self-examination. The campaign was supported by illustrations created with the Irish Cancer Society with information on breast awareness displayed in stores, on Primark’s social media channels and website. Primark also donated €290,000 (£250,000) to local charities, supporting breast cancer research across its 14 markets.

This October 2022, we launched a new range of post-surgery and “solidarity” loungewear and nightwear products along with a two-piece nightwear collection in UK and ROI. Primark will give 50% of the sales price from this collection, created in memory of Sarah Harding, to charity, which will fund an important research project into breast cancer in younger women. We will also give £750,000 to support the work of selected cancer charities across Europe, the UK and US.
