Primark unveils new Weymouth store

• Local shoppers can enjoy the brand-new store stocked full of its most popular fashion items and accessories, plus the arrival of its popular Click & Collect service to gain access to extended product ranges.

Primark has today unveiled its brand-new store, located at 10-12 Westham Road in Weymouth, marking the retailer’s 198th store in the UK.

To mark the occasion in store today, enthusiastic shoppers and Primark fans were greeted by a live DJ, bringing the party atmosphere.

The retailer created 90 new retail roles to form the Weymouth store team, which measures 24,400 sq. ft. set over two floors and includes customers’ favourites across fashion, accessories, beauty, lifestyle and home. Locals will also be able to use Primark’s new self-service checkouts, with other features including LED lighting and updated display units that will create a modern shopping experience.

Customers have also been ordering already to take advantage of its popular Click & Collect service arriving early ahead of the store’s opening. Weymouth shoppers can order from thousands of Primark products online across womenswear, menswear, kidswear and homeware, convenient for in-store pick-up. Click & Collect will give local shoppers access to expanded ranges not always available in-store, from day one of opening.

In line with Primark’s recently launched Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, the retailer’s Breast Cancer Awareness collection is available both in its new Weymouth store and online all year round. The range is designed to support women who are experiencing breast cancer with affordable post-surgery bras, breast forms and loungewear – all providing practical support that continues long after diagnosis. These products have been developed with the support of Primark colleagues and contributors who have had first-hand experience of breast cancer.

Primark Weymouth’s Store Manager, Shannon Read said: “We’re excited that the time has finally arrived for us to open our brand-new store and I’m so proud of all the colleagues involved in today’s opening. It’s been many months of hard work to get the store ready and we’re now all really looking forward to seeing the reaction of local shoppers when they step inside their very own Primark store in Weymouth for the first time.”

As the retailer’s 198th store on the UK high street, Weymouth joins nearby Primark locations including Yeovil, Poole and Bournemouth.

Independent research conducted by Public First found that the retailer contributes £2.6 billion to the UK economy and supports 54,000 jobs across the country. In addition, 2.3 million people cite Primark as the main reason for visiting their high street each week, with every £10 spent at a Primark store generating an additional £3.60 for the high street. This means Primark supports around £1 billion of spending in other stores and £500 million in restaurants each year.
