Primark, the international fashion retailer, has today opened the doors of its fourth store in Poland at Katowice's Silesia City Center. The new store is the first Primark in the Silesian region, creating more than 170 new jobs for the local economy.

The opening marks an exciting milestone in Primark’s expansion in Poland, with the retailer doubling its store network from two to four this month. Primark Katowice joins the newly opened store in Kraków as well as locations in Poznan and Warsaw, with plans to open two further stores next year.

The new Katowice store spans over 3,600 sqm of fantastic retail space and includes 26 fitting rooms and 21 cash registers. Primark Katowice will offer the latest trends and everyday essentials at great value prices across womenswear, menswear, and kidswear, as well as beauty, lifestyle and homeware. Just in time for the party season, customers can look forward to shopping partywear and winter essentials alongside an extensive gifting range and Christmas decorations all at affordable prices.

Many of the clothing ranges at Primark Katowice are part of the retailer’s growing Primark Cares label, as part of Primark’s ambition to make more sustainable fashion affordable for everyone. Primark’s sustainability strategy was launched last year, which set out commitments to give clothing a longer life, protect life on the planet and improve the lives of people who make Primark products.

Today, Primark has published its inaugural Sustainability and Ethics Progress Report, which outlines progress on the strategy’s nine commitments over the past year. Key updates include 45% of all Primark’s clothes now contain recycled or more sustainably sourced materials, up from 25% at launch and 40% of cotton clothing sold contains cotton that is recycled, organic or sourced from the Primark Sustainable Cotton Programme, up from 27% at launch. Additionally, 252,800 farmers have been trained in the Primark Sustainable Cotton Programme (PSCP): on track to train 275,000 farmers by end of 2023, cementing this programme as the biggest of its kind of any single fashion retailer.

Maciej Podwojski, Head of Sales CEE at Primark said: "I am delighted to welcome customers to our Katowice store today. The opening is another extremely important milestone in our ambitious expansion plans in Poland, just 20 days after the opening of our Kraków store. We have had a fantastic response from our Polish customers, and I know they will love all that our Katowice store has to offer, from Christmas gifts and the latest winter trends to everyday essentials, all at affordable prices. I would like to thank my colleagues who have been working hard on this opening, making sure we deliver the best in-store experience to our customers.”

Earlier this year, Primark also announced plans to launch two additional new stores in Poland in 2023 – in Magnolia Park, Wroclaw, and Manufaktura, Lodz, bringing the total number of Primark stores in Poland to six. The retailer is continuing its ambitious expansion plans in the Central and Eastern European region by entering the Romanian market in December, followed by Slovakia in 2023.
