BEHIND THE SEAMS
Amy Slevin, our Senior Charity Partnerships Manager, reflects on how our charity activity helps us to live our values and Bring The Joy.
As the senior charity partnerships manager at Primark I get to work with some incredible organisations that make such a meaningful and impactful difference to people in our communities and I‘m so proud to see our how our colleagues are working together to give back this Christmas.
Over the past month we’ve been busy packing gift packs, volunteering and raising funds for local charities and community groups.
What we’re doing
This Christmas our store, office and depot teams are coming together to support local charities in their communities, spreading a little joy and kindness by creating gift packs for those who have less or find themselves needing a little support.
We’re so proud to donate over £250,000 of Primark products to local charities and community groups across our markets, all packed and delivered by our colleagues.
Each store has chosen a charity they would like to support, worked with them to find out what products they need for their clients or service users, and packed and delivered the bespoke gift packs. These gift packs include things like PJs and plush toys for children’s hospitals, warm winter clothes for charities supporting the homeless, and clothing and hygiene products for women’s shelters just to share a few examples.

Bring The Joy – what’s is all about
Christmas is all about joy. But joy isn’t about how much you spend. Actually, it’s much simpler than that. It’s the small things, the consideration for others, the acts of kindness. It’s thinking of those around you who need something more than you do and coming together to make someone’s Christmas that little bit brighter. This is where the idea for our gift packs came from – we get hundreds of mails from customers, charities and individuals looking for support and donations and we wanted to do something that would help to make a difference, show kindness and bring us together for great causes across our markets.
Working together
It’s been wonderful to see our customers get involved, donating products to include in our gift packs in their local stores, helping us to raise funds for local charities and coming together to help us make an even bigger impact. The generosity and thoughtfulness of our customers means a lot to us, and the charities that we’re donating to. A BIG thank you from all of us at Primark.
For us this is a real and meaningful way for us to live our values – caring, dynamic and together. At Primark we put people first, we prioritise innovation and work together to achieve more and we’ve seen so many wonderful examples of this in our stores and offices this year, bringing a little joy both inside the walls of our stores and across our communities.
