Drama for Change: Innovative interventions to tackle gender-based violence in Vietnam

Gender-based violence in the workplace remains a risk for women working in the garment industry. We wanted to use a more creative approach to help change mindsets and tackle the issue in the sourcing markets where we operate. We partnered with ATH, a local NGO in Vietnam, to produce Drama for Change – an interactive drama on gender-based violence and harassment performed in garment factories.

After the performance, factory staff and workers were invited to discuss the issues they saw, with the goal of identifying solutions as a group and in a safe environment. Exploring a sensitive issue helped spark conversations among garment workers on how to address gender-based violence in factories. After completing the pilot, we’re now planning to roll out the Drama for Change program to approximately 12,500 workers in 15 factories across Vietnam.
