From throwaway plastic to denim fantastic: Primark launches new skinny jeans in partnership with REPREVE Our Ocean®
Skinny jeans are back, but with a more sustainable twist: Primark has partnered with material innovators Unifi, Inc to bring their REPREVE Our Ocean® fibre to its newest denim style. The jeans feature a blend of a unique recycled fabric made from plastic bottles which have been collected from land within 50km of the coastline, one of the biggest sources of plastic pollution in our oceans.
Primark Joins Circular Fashion Partnership led by the Global Fashion Agenda
We are proud to announce that we have become a participant in the Circular Fashion Partnership, led by the Global Fashion Agenda. Along with over 50 brands, manufacturers, recyclers and NGOs, the partnership supports the development of the textile recycling industry in Bangladesh by capturing and directing post-production fashion waste back into the production of new fashion products.
Primark launches Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold jeans - the most sustainably made denim jeans yet
Low on environmental impact but big on style, Primark’s new 100% organic cotton mom jeans have achieved Cradle to Cradle Certified® at the Gold level. The Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard is a globally recognised measure of safe, more sustainable products with a lower impact on people and planet.
Primark signs up to WRAP’s Textiles 2030 initiative
Primark is delighted to be a founding signatory of Textiles 2030, the UK Sustainable Textile Action Plan launched by WRAP. Over the next decade, this important initiative aims to accelerate the fashion and textiles industry’s move towards circularity and significantly reduce the environmental impact of UK clothing and home fabrics through practical interventions along the textiles chain.
Primark joins the UN Fashion Charter
Primark is proud to announce that it has joined the United Nations’ Fashion Charter (UNFCCC), supporting the Charter’s net-zero ambition and committing to a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030.
