Primark officially opens its doors at Royal Victoria Place on 12th December, just in time for locals to enjoy some last-minute Christmas shopping.
In December, Primark unveiled its brand-new store at Royal Victoria Place in the heart of Royal Tunbridge Wells, opening its doors just in time for the final stretch of the festive shopping season.
To mark the moment in store today, hundreds of enthusiastic shoppers queued to be first through the doors and were greeted by a live DJ to celebrate the occasion.
Over 100 new retail team members were recruited to form the new store team at Royal Tunbridge Wells, which is 31,000 sq. ft store set over two floors. Local shoppers can enjoy their favourite Primark items across clothing, accessories, beauty, lifestyle and home.
In further good news, local shoppers will be able to enjoy some of Primark’s most affordable and popular festive items – from cosy pyjamas and last-minute Christmas jumpers, to glam partywear and those festive home finds that make your house feel like a home this festive season, all at incredible value that the retailer is famous for.
Primark Royal Tunbridge Wells store manager, Kyle Brace, said: “We are so excited to finally open our doors at such a brilliant location in the heart of Royal Tunbridge Wells. We want to thank the local community for all the support over the past few months and I am incredibly proud of my entire team who’ve worked tirelessly to ensure we had our doors open in time for Christmas! We know how important this time of year is for families, and we’re confident our great value festive finds will give everyone a little something to smile about.”
Cabinet member for Economic Development, Cllr Justine Rutland, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Primark to Tunbridge Wells, just in time for Christmas. The opening has generated an incredible buzz across the town and provides a real boost following the recent water supply challenges. Primark will sit perfectly alongside our existing shops, complementing the mix of independent and national retailers that make Tunbridge Wells such a vibrant destination. Our town is very much open for business and ready to extend a big warm welcome to everyone for festive shopping and entertainment.”
Royal Tunbridge Wells joins nearby Primark locations across Kent, including Bluewater, Maidstone and Chatham. The new store will also offer its popular Click & Collect service and will enable customers to browse and order on the Primark website before picking up their items in store, at a time that best suits them.
Independent research conducted by Public First found that the retailer contributes £2.6 billion to the UK economy and supports 54,000 jobs across the country. In addition, 2.3 million people cite Primark as the main reason for visiting their high street each week, with every £10 spent at a Primark store generating an additional £3.60 for the high street. This means Primark supports around £1 billion of spending in other stores and £500 million in restaurants each year.
