Primark opens its first store in the Moravian-Silesian Region following €9 million investment

• The new store has created nearly 100 new jobs locally and is the first store in the Czech Republic to feature self-service checkouts

Primark welcomed customers today to its new store at Avion Shopping Park, Ostrava. The store becomes Primark’s first location in the Moravian-Silesian Region and its fourth in the Czech Republic. The opening, which saw the company invest more than €9 million, has created nearly 100 new jobs and represents a further step in Primark’s expansion in the Czech market.

Spanning approximately 3,100 m² across two floors, the new store offers the brand’s full range, from women’s, men’s and children’s fashion through to cosmetics, home accessories and homeware, all at the affordable prices for which Primark is known for. The Ostrava location also marks a first for the Czech Republic: offering self-service checkouts alongside traditional manned checkouts.

The grand opening was attended by Martin Bednář, Mayor of the Ostrava-Jih district, alongside representatives from Primark and Avion Shopping Park Ostrava.

Thanks to Avion Shopping Park’s location, just 20 kilometres from the Polish border, the new store is well placed to attract customers from Ostrava and the wider Moravian-Silesian Region, as well as visitors from neighbouring Poland.

The Ostrava store joins Primark’s existing locations at Wenceslas Square and Metropole Zličín in Prague and Olympia Brno. Primark will open a fifth location at Westfield Černý Most in Prague between September 2027 and September 2028.
