The fashion retailer has invested more than €10 million in its first store in south-western Romania, creating 100 jobs locally.
Primark, the international fashion retailer, has officially opened its fifth store in Romania at ElectroPutere Mall in Craiova, following an investment of more than €10 million. The opening marks Primark’s debut in south-western Romania and in Dolj County following the retailer’s entry into the country in December 2022.
This milestone is part of a broader expansion that sees Primark doubling its presence in Romania this year. The retailer has today also confirmed plans to open its third Bucharest store at Sun Plaza in its next financial year (September 2026 – September 2027), bringing its total store count in Romania to nine. This dynamic growth strategy positions Romania as one of Primark’s key markets in Central and Eastern Europe.
Spanning over 3,185 sqm of retail space across one floor, the Craiova store introduces a fresh new look and feel for Primark in Romania: large window displays, bright lightboxes and digital screens bring the latest collections to life.
The store offers customers in the region a broad selection of products, from everyday essentials such as denim and nightwear to the latest trends in fashion, beauty and lifestyle, all at Primark’s signature affordable prices. With this opening, over 100 new jobs have been created locally.
Maciej Podwojski, Sales Director, Primark CEE, said: “We’re thrilled to be opening our first store in Craiova and to become part of such an energetic and fast-growing city. Romania has become an increasingly important market for Primark, and this latest opening reflects both our confidence in the region and our commitment to long-term local investment. Our expansion in Romania is far from over. Following the opening of stores in Iași, Sibiu and Bacău by the end of 2026, we are pleased to confirm plans for a third Bucharest store at Sun Plaza in the following financial year. This investment will bring Primark to nine stores nationwide and further strengthen our presence in the capital.”
Mayor of Craiova, Lia Olguța Vasilescu, added: "I am delighted to welcome Primark to Craiova. It is a brand we all know from abroad and one we have long been waiting to see in our city. Congratulations to the team of employees working at this store, and to the company for choosing Craiova. The opening of such an iconic store here, by such a well-known brand, is a testament to the potential of our local market and confirmation that we have a city worth investing in."
Primark now operates five stores in Romania: two in Bucharest (AFI Cotroceni and ParkLake Shopping Centre), and one each in Iulius Mall Timișoara, VIVO! Cluj-Napoca, and now ElectroPutere Mall Craiova.
