Primark announces expansion plans in Romania with four new stores confirmed to open in 2026

• The retailer will open four new locations in Romania by the end of next year – doubling its presence in the market and creating over 450 new jobs

Primark, the international fashion retailer, has today announced major plans to expand its presence in Romania, confirming four new store openings for 2026. The announcement comes as the company celebrates its anniversary in the market this week, marking three years since the opening of its first Romanian store in ParkLake Shopping Centre, Bucharest.

The retailer has revealed it will open new stores in Sibiu Shopping Centre and Arena Mall Bacău in 2026, joining previously announced locations in Electroputere Mall, Craiova and Palas Mall Iași, further expanding the retailer’s national footprint and adding a total of 10,870 sq.m. of retail space across the country.

With these new openings, Primark will operate a total of eight stores in Romania by the end of 2026, doubling its current presence. The retailer already has four successful stores in the market: two in Bucharest, one in Timișoara and one in Cluj-Napoca. The expansion reflects Primark’s long-term commitment to the market, bringing affordable fashion to even more customers.

The new stores will offer the shopping experience for which Primark is known and valued. Customers will be able to discover the latest fashion trends, as well as everyday essentials across clothing, beauty, lifestyle and home categories. The stores will also stock the growing Primark Cares range. Primark is committed to offering more sustainable clothing at affordable prices for everyone. Currently, over 70% of Primark’s clothing is made using recycled or more sustainably sourced materials, and the retailer has committed to reaching 100% by 2030.

As the peak trading period ahead of Christmas approaches, Romanian shoppers have shown strong demand for the brand’s seasonal ranges, with licensed products from Disney and Netflix and family pyjamas proving popular.
